8 Unusual Uses Of Lemon

Lemon is a multi-purpose fruit that can be used in healthy recipes or grandmothers' tips for home and beauty. Lemon is essentially composed of 3 acids, malic acid, ascorbic acid and citric acid. Citric acid is predominant in the composition of lemon and is a whitening agent. Thus, thanks to its anti-oxidant, antibacterial and whitening properties we found lemon unusual uses.

Being an exceptional fruit, it continues to discover new features, especially in daily home use. Here is a new list:

1- Eliminate bad smell:

From refrigerator:
By placing inside a sponge soaked in lemon, a few hours later the smell will be completely absorbed.

From Home :
By placing dried lemons as decorative elements. Or, by placing them on heating in the winter so they dry while releasing their scent.

2- Eliminate the stains:
It is a question of preparing a dough based on lemon juice and salt. It must be applied to the surface to be cleaned for five minutes. Then clean it with warm water and then wipe a dry towel for complete removal of the stain.

3- Launder the linen:
Since lemon contains citric acid, and as this study shows, it acts as a whitener on textiles.

To launder the laundry it is obviously no longer to use bleach. But rather to add a quarter cup of lemon juice to the rinse cycle of the machine when washing white laundry.

As for the stubborn stains such as wine and tomato, wash the laundry by hand. Also, at first, lemon juice is poured on the stain, and then sprinkled with salt. Let it penetrate for a few minutes into the fabric and then rub.

4- Prevent foods from turning brown:
Some foods brown very quickly when peeled, so the lemon is the ultimate solution.

This problem is solved simply by squeezing a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice directly onto the food or into their cooking water.

5- Heal the sore throat:
In a study developed by biomedicines, it has been proven that lemon has an antimicrobial activity, found in particular in its peel. Lemon can fight against bacterial infections and pain in the throat. In addition, another study has demonstrated the effect of the combination of lemon and honey in the treatment of sore throat.

6- Clean the fatty dishes:
To remove grease from the dishes, rub it with a mixture of vinegar, salt and lemon juice.

There is also a homemade dishwashing detergent recipe:
  • 1/3 cup of liquid soap
  • 1/3 cup distilled water
  • ½ lemon juice

- Mix everything and wash your dishes in the usual way.

7- Repel insects without insecticides:
The intense citrus scent tends to repel ants, fleas, moths, cockroaches and other insects. To do this, you will need a bag of dried lemon peels that you place in your closet. For best results, squeeze fresh lemon juice over window sills and doors, and into cracks between appliances and walls.

8- Whiten and strengthen the nails:
Start by coating your nails with olive oil to moisturize them, then wash your hands. Finally dip your nails in lemon juice for a minute or two. In addition, the B6 and biotin proteins contained in cider vinegar are essential for nail growth. Also, by dipping them in a mixture of vinegar and lemon, the soft nails will find strength and vitality.

Caution :
Lemon is not recommended for burns and stomach ulcers.
